This explains what information the Praying Mothers website and members' area collect, how it is used and who can see it. It describes how the site works today, and we will update it before any new kind of information is collected. Rooted, our young adults offering, has its own policy.
Praying Mothers is a community of Yoruba Christian mothers who pray together for their families. This website is run by volunteer coordinators. The members' area is for adults aged 18 or over.
To reach us about anything in this policy, use the Get in touch form.
You can read this website without an account. You can also send a prayer request or a message without signing in.
Prayer requests: your name, an optional email address, a category and your message. They are private: only our designated prayer coordinators can read them. They are never posted publicly and never placed on the members' prayer wall automatically.
Messages from the Get in touch form: your name, email address and message. They are saved for the ministry coordinators and forwarded by email to the ministry's contact address.
Joining the members' area: your name, email address, where you are based (city and country), and the time you agreed to our Terms, Privacy Policy and Community Guidelines. We keep a record of your membership and whether a coordinator has approved it.
The prayer wall: the posts you write (request, praise or encouragement), who you chose to share each with, whether it shows your name, your comments, which posts you have said you are praying for, and any reports you make or that are made about your content.
Technical information: a cookie that keeps you signed in, and logs our providers keep when the site is used, such as IP address and browser details. If you add the site to your home screen, a small file lets it install like an app; it stores none of your information.
What we do not collect: private messages between members, a public member directory, anything from your phone or contacts, or any analytics or advertising data. If we add any of these, we will update this policy first.
Prayer requests and posts can include details about your family, health or faith. Sharing them is your choice. Please do not include another person's private details without their consent, and do not include children's personal details. We cannot promise confidentiality beyond the access limits and practices described here.
Online prayer is not a substitute for professional help or emergency services.
These limits are enforced in the database, not only in the screens of the website.
We use passwordless sign-in. When you enter your email we send a one-time sign-in link and a short code. Keep them private, do not forward them, and use only links from the Praying Mothers sign-in page you opened. Links expire after a short time (by default one hour) and are meant to be used once. They are issued and checked by our authentication provider, Supabase. If you think someone else has used your link, tell us right away.
We publish photographs and personal stories only with the permission of the people in them, with particular care for children. To ask for a photograph or story to be removed, use the Get in touch form and we will take it down.
Each of these companies has its own terms about how it processes data. Please read them if you want the detail.
We do not sell your information and do not use it for advertising. The website has no analytics or advertising trackers. We use only the essential cookies needed to keep you signed in.
We have not set automatic deletion periods yet, so a coordinator removes information by hand. We will publish the periods here before any automatic deletion starts.
You can delete your own prayer wall posts and comments at any time. To ask for a copy of your information, to correct it, or to have your membership and information deleted, use the Get in touch form. A coordinator will do this by hand.
We limit who can see information, protect it with database access rules and encrypted connections, and keep secrets out of the website's code. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee that information will never be accessed without permission. Please tell us if you notice a problem.
When we make a material change we will tell members, for example by email or an announcement, before it takes effect. The date at the top shows the latest revision.
